ExtraView makes it easy to add new User-Defined Fields to the database for display on the major user screens.

Click the Fields tab on the ExtraView Administration screen, and then click the Data Dictionary link.

Click the Add button next to the prompt "Add a new UDF to the Database".

The fields should be completed as follows, before you press the Update button. Only the key fields are described here

  • Field belongs to - Unless you are creating a field for repeating records, leave as Issue records.
  • Fixed database name - the name by which you will refer to the UDF on layouts and reports
  • Title to Display - the title that appears on layouts and reports
  • Display type - the type of data for the field, such as List or Text
  • Currency Field Information - only required if you are creating a currency display type field
  • Alias of - indicates this field is to be an alias or copy of anther list field, thereby automatically maintaining a copy of the other field's values
  • Allow selection on reports - you can elect whether or not the field is available for reportsEnable interest list - Turns on an interest list for the field
  • Total field on reports - If the field has a numeric display type, this will automatically cause totals to be generated on column reports and Quicklists
  • Multiple value - For list fields only, allows multiple values to be selected
