February 2004- Sesame Announces Improved Integration for ExtraView
and Perforce
Direct connection provides fast, seamless defect tracking for
developers.
Scotts Valley, CA, February 3/BusinessWire/ -- Sesame Technology,
the developer of ExtraView, the leading Web-based defect tracking
and change management platform, announced today that it would now
be offering its enterprise customers a new, automatic and bi-directional
integration with Perforce's Fast Software Configuration Management
(SCM) system.
The integration provides complete traceability between defects
and source code changes in either system. Issues and status entered
into the ExtraView defect tracking system are converted automatically
to Perforce data for easy access by Perforce users. The integration
also allows developers to work entirely within Perforce without
having to switch to the defect tracker and re-enter data. In both
environments, users can see relevant data related to source changes
and their relation to issues in the ExtraView system.
According to Glen Reynolds, project manager for WRQ Inc. in Seattle,
a strong integration between defect tracking and SCM was critical
in the tool selection process. "Our high quality standards led us
to choose both ExtraView and Perforce for WRQ," said Reynolds, "We
needed an integration that was simple, fast and extendable for our
future needs."
"Perforce users now have easy access to ExtraView's state-of-the
art defect tracking features," said Carl Koppel, Sesame President
and CEO. "This marks our second step with Perforce in providing
best practices for product improvement tracking and a seamless development
environment for software engineers."
The integration comprises a time-triggered daemon that leverages
a direct API-to-API connection to provide synchronized, two-way
data replication between ExtraView and the Perforce SCM system.
All Perforce clients are supported and all synchronizations are
automatic, transparent, and occur within seconds. In addition, the
daemon's open, Perl environment makes it easy to further extend
the integration to cater to all future needs.
"Our customers still want to choose the best project-based systems
verses corporate solutions," said Christopher Seiwald, president
and chief technology officer of Perforce Software. "This tight integration
between Perforce and ExtraView gives developers another option for
solid defect tracking."
The integration module is immediately available. For a screenshot/feature

management system, announced today that its enterprise-class tracking
software is now qualified for use with BEA WebLogic server 6.1 and

"While most of our customers are using the Apache web server and
Tomcat application server, some customers have chosen WebLogic as
their standard for application servers." said Michael Stebbins,
vice president of marketing for Sesame. "We see great value in this
commercially-supported, enterprise combination."
ExtraView is architected to be platform-independent of operating
system, hardware, database, browser, and application server. Sesame
performed specific validation tests to validate the support the
scalable use of WebLogic. Sesame has qualified the use of WebLogic
as an application server supporting the deployment of ExtraView

December 2002 - Sesame Adds Adobe PDF Generation to ExtraView
Reports
ExtraView Reports Include Popular Adobe Standard
Scotts Valley, CA, December 12, 2002 -- Sesame Technology, the
developer of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and
workflow management system, announced today that its enterprise-class
tracking software now features customization of PDF file generation
using data values from the ExtraView tracking database. Customers
who require specific PDF forms to be generated, for example, to
regulating agencies, can auto-populate skeletal PDF templates using
ExtraView.
"The rise of the Adobe PDF standard for report output has driven
the development of a forms generation and management capability
in ExtraView," said Rob Campbell, manager of professional services
at Sesame. "An increasing number of our customers in the medical
industry needed to generate specific forms for FDA compliance. ExtraView
now makes this process automatic."
Through the use of standard interfaces supplied by Adobe Systems,
ExtraView users may define PDF file templates that contain boilerplate
text, graphics and placeholders for replacement strings. The replacement
strings are specified in an FDF (Forms Definition Format), which
are then used to create a PDF document.
The FDF file can be auto-generated for each issue, conditionally
dependent on the type of the issue or some other issue attribute.
The FDF file is then attached to the issue as an attachment, to
be used as often as necessary to generate the PDF forms. The FDF
file contains data specifically associated with the issue, in the
format that the user specifies; as always, field security restrictions
apply to the values generated on this form.
December 2002 - ExtraView Supports LDAP
LDAP Integration Enables Centralized User Data
Scotts Valley, CA, December 14, 2002 -- Sesame Technology, the
developer of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and
workflow management system, announced today that its enterprise-class
tracking software now supports Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
(RFC 1777 and RFC 2251) natively within the product. ExtraView administrators
may now maintain all ExtraView user data in a central LDAP directory.
"LDAP extensions were a natural addition to ExtraView." said Allan
Rofer, vice president of engineering for Sesame Technology, "The
LDAP directory maintains many of the same fields as ExtraView, so
exchanging values for these LDAP entities was a natural extension
of ExtraView's capabilities."
Future plans include LDAP access on a timed interval, allowing
synchronization of LDAP data with ExtraView user profiles on a scheduled
basis, and providing higher performance for the user sign-on process
as well as independence from the LDAP directory software for production
operations.
December 2002 - ExtraView Supports Single Sign-On Authorization
Seamless Login for ExtraView Users
Scotts Valley, CA, December 14, 2002 -- Sesame Technology, the
developer of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and
workflow management system, announced today that ExtraView users
may now use one of several single sign-on products that provide
authorization for seamless user login to ExtraView. Single sign-on
provides the authentication to ExtraView and other applications
with a single user entry with an individual ID and password.
In addition to support for the initial authorization of a user
for ExtraView, the SSO authorization can be invoked during the processing
of a form, for further user authentication when required. This is
a key component for compliance with the FDA 21 CFR 11 electronic
records and electronic signatures requirements.
ExtraView has been extensively tested with the Support Netegrity
SiteMinder Policy Server version 4.51; other products will be qualified
for interoperation with ExtraView according to market demand.
April 2002 - ExtraView Supports Field-Level Logic & Attributes
Without Programming
New Feature Eliminates Need for Customization Programming
Scotts Valley, CA, April 12, 2002 -- Sesame Technology, the developer
of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and workflow
management system, announced today that its enterprise-class tracking
software now supports multiple attributes and logic dependencies
for each field in the database. ExtraView administrators have the
power to create and manage all screen and report layouts through
a simple click-to-configure Web-based interface. Newly added field-level
functionality includes:
- Conditional
Alternate Field Titles
- Date
Range Control
- Conditional
Display & Style Formats
- Automatic
HTML Modifiers and JavaScript Calls
- Conditional
'Field Required' Control
- Sub-Layout
Control (Based on Other Field Values)
- Conditional
Field Visibility
"This represents a new threshold in development of Web based tracking
systems," said Carl Koppel, president and CEO of Sesame Technology.
"Where legacy tools took days of programming for a simple field
attribute change, ExtraView enables deeper customization in moments.
The cost savings are huge when technology organizations can deploy
engineers on their core product rather than maintaining the tracking
system."
Extended field attributes are immediately available to all ExtraView
customers.
August 2002 - ExtraView Adds Support for Microsoft SQL Server
7, 2000
New Support Extends the ExtraView Installed Base
Scotts Valley, CA, August 3, 2002 -- Sesame Technology, the developer
of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and workflow
management system, announced today that its enterprise-class tracking
software now supports both Microsoft SQL Server 7 and SQL Server
2000.
According to Michael Stebbins, Sesame's vice president of marketing,
the support of SQL Server makes ExtraView available to a new type
of user. "In the past, the only way a non-Oracle shop would gain
access to ExtraView was through Sesame's online hosted service.
While this enabled our partners to get up and running without software
or server resources, ExtraView users now have the choice to self-host
in a Microsoft/SQL-Server environment." Stebbins said. "We are pleased
to partner with Microsoft in making ExtraView available to this
new community."
For those who choose to install and host ExtraView on their own
servers, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 are
supported. Supported databases include Oracle 8.1, Oracle 9i, Microsoft
SQL Server 2000, and Microsoft SQL Server 7. Sesame also delivers
ExtraView as an online subscription with secure, enterprise-class
performance. With no software or hardware to buy, install, or maintain,
your organization benefits from ExtraView immediately.
March 2002 - Sesame Technology Unveils Inbuilt Localization Utility
for ExtraView Tracking System
New Toolset Brings Unprecedented Flexibility For Companies Requiring
Localization or Double-Byte Character Support
Scotts Valley, CA, March 6, 2002-- Sesame Technology, the developer
of ExtraView, the leading Web-based issue tracking and workflow
management system, announced today that its enterprise-class tracking
software would now be available with double-byte character support
as well as a new localization administration utility. Sesame also
announced that the first localization into Japanese (Kana and Kanji)
had been accomplished by means of the new administration utility
that is immediately available for use by ExtraView licensees.
According to Sesame's vice president of engineering, Allan Rofer,
Sesame has gone beyond mere double-byte support and interface translation.
"ExtraView is such an eminently configurable and customizable product,
it was not enough for us that the default product settings be localized,"
Rofer said. "Rather, we wanted to capture all of ExtraView's in-built
flexibility, and carry this across to the localized product. With
the release of this set of product features, I believe we've accomplished
our objective, and set a new standard for localization."
Explaining what makes the system unique, Rofer pointed out that
double-byte support is an optional ExtraView feature that the administrator
may activate at any time. Localization into another language includes
everything from standard screen layout names and labels, HTML buttons,
error and alert messages, reports, and even email notifications.
